HOW DID BARBIE AND KEN GET THEIR NAMES?
Ruth Handler created the Barbie and Ken dolls in 1959 and 1961 respectively. Ruth had a daughter named Barbara and a son named Kenneth. She named the dolls after her children because they provided the inspiration for the doll empire that would eventually conquer the world.

WHAT DOES BARBIE DO FOR A LIVING?
Well, since Barbie came into this world back in 1959, she has had over 80 different jobs. She has been a rock star, an Olympic athlete, a paleontologist, an astronaut and of course a runway model. Barbie has one of the most impressive resumes of all time.
